12 Minutes Max Salt Lake City

I know, it’s been a while since I posted anything. Baby Johannes has taken a lot of attention the past year. On that vein, let me tell you about what happened briefly. In January, I started writing a piece for Michele Medina-Ferrone, who is a multi-disciplinary violinist from Utah. She contacted me a couple of years ago, and we started talking about me writing something for her, an unaccompanied violin solo. Medina-Ferrone wanted the piece to be about motherhood because after having her son, Kian, it was suddenly a challenge to organize music performances like she had in the past.

To write the piece, I solicited some photos and poetry from her, and when I had the opportunity to travel back to Sweden, I was playing around with some traditional folk dances to get inspiration for this piece. Listen for the Swedish Hambopolska and SchottisMetamorphosis in March.” I love the Swedish folk dances and I cherish the time I had with Umeå spelmanslag back in 2014-15 to learn and play for dancers dancing our traditional dances.

This event will take place at the Salt Lake City Library this Sunday, December 15th, 2-3 pm. No registration is needed. Just come and enjoy listening to my piece and some other pieces! There will also be a Q&A after.
